Thank you Anne! Harvey was such a marvellous teacher - he made a big impact on me in my first year at university. It was wonderful to be taught so early at university by someone who knew the craft from the inside. Harvey and Othello and my questions about Malvolio; and Harvey entrusting me with a copy of a book about Shakespeare and evil ... these are some of the things that made me feel as if education was a joy. Is his poem due out in the upcoming winter issue? I'm off to a waiting room today and I'll keep my eyes peeled to see if it's already in any leaflets still in the surgery... though they disappear fast as snow in summer once they're out.

Thanks, Ian - I heard another poem written for him last night at a reading given by Sue Wootton and Bill Manhire - his contribution to the Dunedin poetry scene was so appreciated by many readers and writers here.

I remember Rhys from high school. Being a year beneath him I can hardly say I 'knew' him, though his is a name I recognise and certainly respect.
He had integrity - that's the only way I can describe it. He was someone you could trust, regardless of who you were, He was someone approachable, who easily bridged the gap between the all-defining years of seniority and juniors.
He is certainly missed, though he has left his mark on many who will remember him.
I certainly will.
